Just came across this site and thought that i should share it with all of you,
http://www.cooltext.com you can design free logos and buttons here, found it really useful myself.. just made a few buttons and then touched them up a bit with photoshop, they look beautiful now.

there may be many others like this out there, if you know of any more can you please let me know as well.
